Electric blankets are a wonderful way to warm up your bed on a cold winter's night. There is nothing worse than crawling into a cold bed on a cold night. It seems to take forever to warm up to a point where you can actually drift off to sleep. With an electric blanket, all you have to do is turn it on 10 or 15 minutes before you go to bed, and your bed will be toasty warm all over when you crawl in. There are some precautions you need to take however, after all it is an electrical device.
There are 3 basic types of electric blankets on the market today. First, there is a duvet-like electric blanket for the top of your bed that can be left turned on all night. Next is an under-blanket that is used to pre-heat the bed, but must always be shut off before you get in. Lastly is the extra-safe under-blanket. If you want to leave your heated blanket on all night, then this is the one you'll need. Be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions carefully before using this blanket so you understand completely how it works. The extra-safe blanket is ideal for the elderly or infirm people who can't feel whether it's too hot or not. You must always monitor very closely when any type of electrical blanket is used on someone who cannot help themselves.
Heated blankets today come in just about any size you would need from single to California King. Twin and full size blankets come with one control, while queen and king come with dual controls. It's great if you have a hot body and a cold body sleeping in the same bed because you only have to heat the side of the bed that you want heated. The controls can have up to 10 heat settings so you can choose what setting is right based on how you feel at the time. Today's electric blankets are machine washable for easy care and come with a warranty.
